Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This policy explains how TipsterCheck ("we", "us") collects and uses personal data when you use our website, and your rights under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). We operate from the United Kingdom (England & Wales).
What we collect
- Account data — your name, email address and password (stored securely, hashed) when you register.
- Content you submit — reviews, ratings, replies, profile claims and any messages you send us.
- Contact & newsletter data — your name and email if you use our contact form or subscribe to updates.
- Technical data — basic log and device information generated automatically when you visit, used to keep the site secure and working.
How and why we use it
- To create and manage your account and publish your reviews.
- To respond to your enquiries and, where you've opted in, send you updates.
- To detect and prevent fraud, fake reviews and abuse.
- To operate, secure and improve the website.
Our lawful bases are your consent (e.g. newsletter), performance of a contract (running your account) and our legitimate interests (site security and preventing abuse).
Sharing & third parties
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run the site — for example our hosting provider, our transactional email provider (Resend) and our newsletter provider (GetResponse) — and only as needed to deliver the service. These providers process data under their own agreements and safeguards.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the site to function (such as keeping you logged in). If we introduce analytics or advertising cookies in future, we will update this policy and provide appropriate controls.
Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes above or as required by law. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data at any time.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
